About Us
Bryan - College Station Newcomers, established in 1965, is a women’s social club with membership open to both new and established residents of the Bryan - College Station area. Our mission is to offer a warm welcome to both the newcomer and the established resident and to provide opportunities to develop lasting friendships. We changed our Club name in 2021 to B/CS Newcomers and Friends to best reflect our motto of sowing the seeds of friendship.
The club offers a variety of social activities. Nine months a year, there are luncheons for members and their guests, featuring a program or speaker. Morning coffees are held several times a year. In addition, small groups which share common interests meet regularly. Our bimonthly email newsletter will keep you informed.
Luncheons
Luncheon meetings are typically the first Thursday of the month at the Hilton College Station (Oakwood Ballroom or Bluebonnet Ballroom) located at 801 University Drive East, College Station, TX 77840. There are no luncheons in January, June and July. Social time and buffet food service begin at 11:30 a.m. The program begins at noon. Attendance is $28.00 per person. Reservations are required.
Coffees
Members host coffees in their homes several times per year. Coffees are from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the third Thursday of the designated month.
Interest Groups
Small groups of members who share common interests meet regularly. Their meetings are announced in the newsletter. Current interests include book clubs, Bridge, Mah Jongg, Hand & Foot Canasta, Handicrafts, and Bunco groups. New groups can be formed when members bring ideas to the board.
Many Other Activities
Periodically during the year, there are outings and day trips for members. Many evening events include significant others. Members meet at selected local restaurants for dinner.
Dues
Annual membership dues are $30. To insure your name and contact information are included in the yearbook, your check and membership application must be received no later than June 1. If you join between January and June, dues are $15.
